We recognize the critical need for a reliable power supply for individuals dependent on life support equipment. As a result, we offer assistance to qualified customers by giving advance notification of planned outages and the anticipated time for power restoration.

We also advise proactively preparing for unexpected outages to safeguard your safety and maintain the optimal operation of your equipment.

Power Supply Safety and Stability

CLP has always been dedicated to maintaining the reliability, safety, and stability of the power supply system. Nevertheless, in situations such as severe weather events (e.g., typhoons), external damages, or power equipment malfunctions, there is a possibility of voltage fluctuations, power instability, or even outages.

While we endeavor to reduce the duration of outages, we cannot guarantee that the power supply will remain unaffected. Participation in this program does not guarantee continuous power supply or priority restoration in the event of an outage.

Planned Power Outage Notification Service

When we have scheduled maintenance or power system upgrades, affected customers who have registered life-support equipment will receive advance push notifications, providing information about the outage schedule and the expected restoration timeframe for the supply address.

These notifications will be dispatched through the CLP Mobile App. Kindly ensure that the application is downloaded and that the push notification feature is activated.

Important Notice

The Planned Power Outage Notification Service is specifically designed for CLP customers who rely on life support equipment. Take action to arrange backup power supply and consult your physician. While CLP will use all reasonable efforts to notify customers of planned power suspensions, factors beyond our control may affect the accuracy, timeliness, or availability of this service.

CLP will not be liable for any losses, damages, costs, or expenses incurred due to the temporary power suspension forecast service, whether claimed by registered customers or others, provided there is no wilful misconduct or negligence on the part of CLP and without prejudice to the Electricity Supply Rules.

Receiving outage notifications for Life Support Customer

Enable Push Notification Function in CLP App

Eligible customers will receive push notifications during scheduled outages. Please remember to enable notifications within the app:

1. Open the CLP App
2. Select "Profile" from the homepage
3. Tap on "Notification Settings"
4. Enable "SMS" notifications

Develop Readiness Measures for Power Outages

We advise customers to proactively devise preventive measures against power outages and ensuring the continuous operation of life support equipment during power disruptions, thereby bolstering preparedness for unforeseen electrical interruptions.

Please refer to the following guidelines to commence preparing your readiness measures for power interruptions:

1. Ensure Life-Support Equipment Functions Properly

  • Can your life-support equipment operate during a power outage? Is there a backup power source available?
  • Do you have backup batteries that are fully charged and prepared for use?
  • If you rely on oxygen equipment, do you have sufficient backup oxygen cylinders ready for immediate use?
  • Have you considered utilizing an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to manage brief power outages?

2. Medical Emergency Arrangements 

  • In case power restoration at home is delayed, have you planned your transportation from your residence to the hospital in advance?
  • Have you know the address and contact number of the nearest hospital?
  • Have you verified if the hospital can provide backup power during an outage?

3. Emergency Communication Arrangements

  • Is your phone functional during a power outage?
  • Have you prepared necessary contact numbers, including:

  • Do you have sufficient medication, prescriptions, and other health supplies to cater your needs during an outage?
  • Is your first aid kit fully stocked and ready?

Eligibility

This service applies to existing CLP customers. If life-sustaining equipment reliant on electricity is required at the supply address, you are eligible to apply.

Should you no longer require this service or if there are alterations to your supply address or emergency contact details, please complete the online form, and our team will promptly reach out to you.

We aim to provide you with sufficient notice before planned power outage. Typically, you will receive a notification 3 days in advance of the outage to minimize any disruptions.

There are no costs associated with applying as Life Support customers. ​
