Bathe in the Sun and Get Your Job Done

With fewer social events and out-of-home activities, it is important to make your time at home always joyful. Whether it is work or daily life, being in a bright, cosy environment can uplift your mood and motivate you to work energetically.

To make WFH easier, you need to create an ideal workplace. On this, we have a simple and cost-effective suggestion.

Choose a room with more natural light and place your desk near the windows. When you make good use of natural light in the daytime, you don’t have to turn on the lights. It is also a good idea to open the windows and let fresh air come in. Add a green touch to the space with some small potted plants near the windows. Working in such a pleasant area is almost as refreshing as being in nature. Your productivity will naturally increase.

If you can go to bed early and get up early, you are able to start your work earlier. The earlier you start working, the more time you can enjoy free natural light, which in turn cuts down energy use and your electricity bills. If you need to turn on the lights for work at night, try not to use the main lightning in the room. We recommend using a table lamp and a light-coloured lampshade with high light transmittance.

Bright Ideas for Dimly-Lit Home

If the room is relatively dim, opt for curtains of lighter colours, or paint the walls and ceilings with lighter colours, to enhance light refraction; even if you need to turn on the lights, you can also use lower-wattage, more energy-saving compact fluorescent lamps (CFL).

When using a computer, it is advisable to moderately adjust the screen’s brightness based on your eyes’ adaptability to save electricity. As for other office equipment such as printers and fax machines, when not in use, turn off the power – equipment on standby mode is one of the reasons for power wastage. Remember to turn off the power of your computer and all the equipment before leaving the room. More importantly, don’t forget to turn off the lights!

As the saying goes, many a little makes a mickle. Energy saving starts with ‘a little’ amount in every detail of your daily life.
