“Life was difficult several years ago when my husband suffered from a stroke. Since we have come to the Hotmeal Canteen to have our meals, we both eat healthier and feel less stressful financially. The Canteen is like our second home. I have introduced the Canteen to my neighbours who have similar needs. I volunteer at the canteen when I am free,” said Yuk Fung, one of the beneficiaries.

CLP Power launched Hotmeal Canteen programme in 2011, serving hot meals to the underprivileged at a nominal cost.

CLP Power has partnered with Po Leung Kuk to provide CLP Hotmeal Canteen service in Sham Shui Po, Kwun Tong and Kwai Tsing, providing nutritious hot meals at discounted prices to the low-income families, unemployed people, and elderly people. The service also provides meals for people with special dietary requirements and conditions such as diabetes.

In June 2019, CLP Power and Po Leung Kuk set up a fourth CLP Hotmeal Canteen in Sham Shui Po to provide more dietician-supervised hot meals to people in need at a nominal cost.

The CLP Hotmeal Canteen has served more than 700,000 meals to the community since its launch.
