#Cocreate for a Low-Carbon Future: 700 Innovative Entries for the CLP Smart Energy Award 2024

The seventh CLP Smart Energy Award ceremony was successfully held on 24 October 2024. Themed “#Cocreate for a Low-Carbon Future,” the awards highlighted the collaborative partnerships between CLP and our business customers. By leveraging innovative and diverse low-carbon solutions, both parties strive to foster sustainable development in Hong Kong, co-creating exceptional benefits for the public and the planet.

This year, nearly 700 entries were received from corporate and government departments, catering groups, SMEs, NGOs, educational institutions, and property management enterprises. This response was very encouraging, and from these entries, our judges selected a total of 65 winners for their outstanding energy-saving performances.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort won the Carbon Management Grand Award for its ongoing commitment to carbon emission reduction and environmental sustainability. The resort boasts the largest solar panel site in Hong Kong, with 7,500 solar panels installed and more to come. The annual power generation is expected to reach 3.7 GWh by the end of 2024, enough to power 1,100 households. In addition to renewable energy, the resort utilises an AI model to analyse and predict energy consumption for better energy efficiency. Altogether, this accolade is well-deserved.

Nan Fung Property Management was also among the winners, having effectively incorporated sustainability into its business strategy. This commitment is exemplified by its innovative, energy-saving and pet-friendly shopping mall, AIRSIDE. With the aid of an IoT hub and digital platform, power consumption data is collected from AIRSIDE’s HVAC system and other electrical appliances to enhance energy efficiency and improve the shopping environment for visitors. Nan Fung’s “Net Positive Lease” also provides incentives and benefits to help tenants achieve sustainability goals. Additionally, the team has adopted Building Portfolio to track the carbon emissions of its shopping malls, aiming for low-carbon operations and comprehensive energy management.

Thanks to the collective efforts of these winning organisations, approximately 67 GWh of electricity was saved – equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 20,000 households. Moving forward, CLP will continue to introduce innovative energy-saving technologies and initiatives to support our business customers. Together, let’s co-create for a low-carbon future!
