The CLP Community Energy-Saving Fund subsidises rewiring works for eligible subdivided units so that individual electricity meters can be installed, improving the home safety and living conditions of tenants.
Eligibility (Applicants must fulfil all the following conditions)
The applicant must be the landlord or tenant of a subdivided unit in a building with CLP electricity supply.
The concerned unit is currently divided as subdivided unit with no CLP individual electricity meter installed in the severe environmental beneficiary households.
Each subdivided unit has individual door and the landlord must obtained consent from the owner of the rising mains for the rewiring works.
The applicant must be a registered CLP registered customer for the unit, or must obtain the consent of the registered customer.
All applications must be agreed by the landlord of the unit.
Each address will be granted a subsidy from this programme on one occasion only.
Any one of the SDU households must fulfil at least one of the following conditions:
Being a holder of a valid Senior Citizen Card; or
Receiving at least one HKSAR Government’s assistance below: Comprehensive Social Security Assistance, Normal Disability Allowance, Higher Disability Allowance, Old Age Living Allowance, Working Family Allowance, School Textbook Assistance, Kindergarten and Child Care Centre Fee Remission; or
Applying for Public Rental Housing and holding Hong Kong Housing Authority’s blue acknowledgement cards each bearing application numbers and registration dates; or
Underprivileged families recommended by NGOs.
Application Process
The applicant should present an electricity bill and submit the application through a designated CLP community partner.
CLP will appoint a contractor to arrange a site condition survey upon receipt of the application.
On approval by CLP, all works will be handled by registered electrical contractors, who will be responsible for rewiring, inspection of devices, and the issuing of work completion certificates. CLP will then install individual electricity meters for the subdivided units.
*The quota of funding is limited, application will be considered on a first come, first served basis until the quota is exhausted.
*In the event of a large number of applications, a longer time period will be needed to process the application and carry out the works.
*The capacity of the newly installed individual electricity meter will be restricted by the specifications of the original device in the unit.
