Eligibility

As a CLP residential customer, you may apply for the Feed-in Tariff Scheme if you install or own a renewable energy system that meets our requirements.

Applicant requirements

You may apply for the scheme if:

  • You do not belong to a government body;
  • You are our residential customer;
  • Your electricity account is not for electric vehicle charger; and
  • Your electricity account’s supply address matches where your renewable energy (RE) system is, or will be, installed.

If you do not have an existing account, you must open an electricity account first.

RE system requirements

To apply for the scheme, you must own or install an RE system. Your RE system must:

  • Be powered by solar and/or wind;
  • Not exceed 1MW in total generation capacity;
  • Be able to connect to our network without any increase in capacity or network reinforcement;

If you would like to build an RE system with a generation capacity greater than 1MW, we will consider your application on a case-by-case basis.

If you wish to install an RE system, you may find the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) website for list of RE installation contractors or call 6395 2930.

Note:
  • You must appoint a qualified Registered Electrical Contractor or Registered Electrical Worker to install your RE system.
  • Your RE system’s design, installation, operation and maintenance should comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and safety and technical requirements. This includes compliance with the Technical Guidelines on Grid Connection of Renewable Energy Power Systems and the Guidance Notes for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Installation, both issued by EMSD.
