Selected smart meter customer can earn Points when saving electricity during specific times of the "Summer Saver Rebate Programme" (SSR).

What Is Summer Saver Rebate Programme (SSR)?

To contribute to a greener future, selected smart meter customers will be invited to participate in SSR. By reducing your energy consumption in specific hours on the designated SSR event days, you can earn Domeo Points for an array of fabulous rewards. The more electricity you save, the more Domeo Points you will earn. After the event, you can view the saving result by login to CLP Online Account on either CLP mobile app or CLP website.

SSR helps to manage electricity demand. When you participate, you help to reduce the need for additional power plants and keep electricity costs low.

If you allow CLP to control your air conditioner through smart gadgets during specific hours on the SSR event day, you can earn an extra 100 Points for each unit of electricity saved!

Eligibility 

You must be a selected smart meter customer to participate in the Summer Saver Rebate Programme (SSR).

  • Invitations to participate in SSR will be sent to the current year’s new selected smart meter customers via direct mail or email to introduce the programme content and encourage new customers to participate. SSR is free of charge and no registration is required for both new and existing customers*. Please provide or update your mobile number and email address to receive notifications on the event day.
  • On the event day, CLP will notify participating customers about the event period via SMS, email, or notices posted by the property management offices taking part in the event. You can then start saving electricity during the specified event period and earn Domeo Points for each electricity unit saved, actively contributing to energy conservation and decarbonisation.

Taking part in the SSR is completely voluntary. However, if you wish to withdraw from this rewards programme, you may notify 2678 0633 (Service hours: 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays).

*Once you move out, your old address will no longer be valid for SSR.

Event Day's Flow 

About 4-6 hours before the start of each event, we will inform you about specific energy saving hours via the following means:

  • CLP app push notification; 
  • SMS message;
  • Email; or
  • Poster or notice from the property management offices

 

Tip:

To receive the latest news on SSR programme and SSR event day(s), make sure that your mobile number and email address is up to date. You should also update your contact information by calling 2678 0633 (Service hours: 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holiday).

We recommend following these tips to save energy:

Cool your space before the start of the event

Once the event starts, increase your air-conditioner's temperature by 2°C to 3°C and use a fan

Fully charge your electronic devices before the event

Examples of electronic devices include mobile phones and laptops

If possible, turn off your air-conditioner, TV and lights during the event

If you have a smart home device, you can schedule your device to turn off during the SSR event
Tip:

You may use smart gadgets to control the temperature of your air-conditioner easily and save energy all year. 

Use your washing machine after the event ends

Reduce your shower time to 5 minutes

You can also use the CLP Power Mobile App or website to check how much energy you have saved and set consumption alerts.

Please exercise discretion and consider health impacts when reducing energy use.

All Points will expire after 2 years. You may forfeit all current and pending rewards if you: 

  • Move out from your registered address;
  • Suspend your electricity account; or 
  • Change your tariff type.

Rather than focusing only on the wattage, pay attention to the luminous efficacy# when choosing your light bulbs. Lighting products with higher luminous efficacy and durability can help you save energy, and reduce the frequency for changing light bulbs.

Select lightings with sensors and avoid energy wastage due to oversight.

While a hot shower may be enjoyable during cooler days, beware of dry and itchy skin as well as higher energy and water consumption. Limit your shower time to 5 minutes and use a high water efficient shower head to save more electricity and water.

How To Earn More Domeo Points

^An average of around 2kWh of electricity can be saved in each event. If you participate in four events, you will save around 8 kWh of electricity
#Customer can earn 200 Points for each kWh of electricity saved during the events, extra 100 Point (i.e. 300 Points) will be rewarded for those saving with designated smart products. With an average of around 2kWh of electricity saved in each event, customer may earn 2 x 300 x 4 = 2,400 Points in total.
*Customers who get this reward will not be entitled to the Top Saver Rewards at the same time

Calculating Energy Savings and Rewards 

We calculate the units of electricity saved through the formula below: 

  • Electricity saved (kWh) = Baseline energy usage – energy usage during specified hours on the event day
  • Energy-Saving Reward = Each unit of electricity saved (kWh) x 200 Points

To calculate your baseline usage, we will look at your energy use before the SSR event day. Based on your energy use 10 working days before the SSR event day, we will identify 3 days with the highest energy use.

Note:

The 10 working days cover Mondays to Saturdays, except public holidays and past event days.

We use the 3 days with the highest energy use to calculate an average and set your baseline usage. Depending on the SSR event period (e.g. 6pm to 10pm), we will reference your energy use during the same period.

Energy-saving rewards are calculated on an event basis. We will calculate your reward according to the formula below:

  • Energy-saving Reward = Each unit of electricity saved (kWh) x 200 Points

No, the programme aims at encouraging customers to achieve energy-saving. No penalty will be applied even though there is no energy saved.

Download and login to CLP App is the easiest way to receive event notification, results & points gained from SSR, as well as redeeming your favourite gifts before the expiry of Domeo Points.

Given the validity of points, we shall issue a letter to customers without email and mobile number, summarizing the points received yearly from all SSR event(s) each year. The final rewards of each SSR event will be released within 60 days of your next electricity bill being issued. You can go to CLP online account to check their rewards in the Points History.
